Q. What is the Memphis Ballroom Dance Company?
A. We are a dance school where you can learn ballroom and social dancing, a dance club that has a variety of activities for its members and occasional guest.
Q. What kind of dancing is ballroom and social dancing?
A. This is the style of dancing that is done with a partner. The dances we teach include: Swing, Bop, Foxtrot, Two-step, Cha-cha, Rumba, Waltz, and Tango, to name a few.
Q. Where can I do this kind of dancing?
A. Ballroom and social dancing can be done to any type of music -- whether you are a a local nightspot, the country club, or right here on our 1400 sq ft dance floor where we sponsor our own club parties, special dances, shows, classes, and private lessons
Q. What if I can't dance or haven't danced in years?
A. Lessons are available in private and group sessions and are included in your trial introductory coupon. Our lessons can teach you from step one or be used as a brush-up.
Q. Do I have to sign a contract?
A. Our policy is that you pay only for lessons used.
Q. Why should I try the Memphis Ballroom Dance company?
A. We are one of the most exciting dance schools/clubs in the area. Dancing is a great exercise, a wonderful way to meet new people, and the best possible hobby you could ever have. You'll feel welcome from the moment you enter our ballroom.
Q. Do I need a partner?
A. No. For your private lessons we'll provide you an instructor to serve as your partner and during our group classes and other activities you will find many single people in attendance.
Q. What if I do have a partner?
A. For your private lessons we can teach you as a couple or if one of you has some dance experience you have the option to be taught separately until your skills even out. Couples really enjoy the variety of activities to be found at the ballroom.
Q. Will I fit in at the Memphis Ballroom Dance company?
A. Definitely. Our students range in age from 10 to 84 and represent all socio-economic groups.
Q. I have a 10 year old daughter/son and I am concerned about finding care for her/him every Wed. Can a child that age participate in the Wednesday/Saturday class?
A. Yes. Others have done that before and
the kids enjoy very much learning something they can use later in life, and in a
subtle way, creates a stronger bond with their parents.
